KUHANG

Kuhang Menyangbo aka Anmol Limbu (born July 11, 1991) is a UK based Nepalese singer, songwriter and performer. Born in Brunei, he got his name Kuhang which is derived from the  Limbu language, which means the king of the kings. Kuhang was a naturally gifted singer and started singing at the tender age of 5, he was involved in his school talent shows from a young age and started performing in school gigs. Kuhang started off his musical journey with his debut hit “Maiya Nepali” (2019).

Early-Present Life

Kuhang was born on July 11, 1994, in Brunei to Arjun Menyangbo and Indra Lawati Menyangbo. He moved to Nepal as an infant where he spent the next few years of his life in a small town, Kerkha. He then moved to India, Darjeeling, the world’s third-highest hill station. A place well known for its natural beauty and tea, also widely known as “The Queen Of Hills”. It is in this place where he spent most of his childhood as he was studying there in a boarding school. Kuhang was already a star in the making, in his school days he was a popular singing figure, he would perform on all the school organised gigs as the main event. He was also a very active sportsperson, an integral part of his school team in multiple forms of sports like Badminton, Volleyball and Basketball where he would compete in inter-school and state-level competitions. He also had a dance crew of 5 members, also performed on all the main events of the school.

Kuhang moved back to Nepal after completing his schooling. He moved to the city of Kathmandu for further education. Kuhang then moved to the United Kingdom where he lives currently, also filmed a music video in the city of Southampton "Hero" (2020).

Artistry

Kuhang has very unorthodox ways of songwriting and the same can be said about how his music sounds. Though labelled urban pop, Kuhang has strong R&B roots with the presence of reggaeton and dancehall flavours in him. With all of that and Kuhang's unorthodox ways of songwriting paired with his skilful oriental style of singing, all these combinations make him unique.

Discography

Kuhang released his first single “Maiya Nepali” (2019), which saw great success drawing him comparisons to the likes of Chris Brown and Jay Park. Later that year he released his second single "Hero" (2019), while the m/v for it was released the following year (2020). Kuhang also had an unofficial release "Ziddhi Love" (2020) which is a Nepali mix of the popular siren beat "Laxed [Siren Beat]".

Kuhang is currently working on an EP titled Kuyeezyverse which is scheduled for release later in 2021. He has released three singles from the EP  titled "Jhaaki Hera", "Abela" and "Dats Hot!" (Music Video). Upon release of "Dats Hot!" the music video received an overwhelmingly positive reaction from the urban crowd and was able to peak at #1 in Kathmandu in its second week.
